Don't panic, but I've had that twice. Both times the radius arm had snapped :)

I've also had an issue with the bushes on the shocks, where the ring of the shock has been knocking the axle bracket. Theres been another knocking too caused by lose bolts on the t-case.

The most frequent knocking though is me, knocking my head against a wall because I broke it again.

I get all sorts of chunks under mine off road, you learn which are normal, like springs moving in their seats etc.

Obviously give it a good check over but don't get unduly concerned if you don't hear them on the road.

If you get a clonk when off raoding in 4wd it could be a dry cv as I found out when I took it apart.

It's a little more worrying if it does it on the road and if you feel it through the car as you've described.

Have you checked the rear prop for play in the UJ. There is natural slack in the diff so it maybe just aswell to whip off the prop and feel the UJ's for excessive play if not obvious on the car.

If not that and it's in 2WD with new radius arm bushes it's just a case of lever evrything about to look for play and check all bolts and nut for tightness.

As you say, if it get's worse it'll be easier to diagnose.

CV's click loudly on hard lock and it can be felt through the steering wheel and whole car but if it's on the road in 2wd it's not likely them.
