Winch choice and fitment maybe ?? was created by Fearghal Murphy
Howya folks, i am sure there is a winch thread here somewhere, but ah sure why not start a new one !! I dont think i shall be looking at a winch for a while, if at all !! I was just curious about fitment, whether a winch bumper needs to be fitted or not ?? Also i would be very grateful if anyone could give me some info or stories regarding a T Max winch experience good/bad !!

Thanks guys !! Much appreciated !! Go go Jimny !

Hi mate you can fit a winch into a standard bumper and i think it looks very neat or you can just fit a winch bumper it depends on your budget and what you think looks the best. to be honest.

Thanks very much James, really appreciate the info, to be honest i like the neat look as opposed to a heavier bumper, even tho they are prob more practical, would you happen to know difficult the fitment is and whether much fabrication is required ?? Existing mounting locations etc !?

Thanks again James, top man !

it cos 11 quid for the tube, paint and gas to weld it. but if you dont do any events and thinks they do look nice in the standard bumper, iv got a champion and there priced about the same as t-max its very reliable. i have just go a warn make winch for the front, and im putting the champion on the rear

Thanks man, looks like ur handy with the fabrication, moving trees sounds interesting too haha !! Ye i dont think i would be doing any major events just weekend mucking around and the odd spin over to England for the Jimny day perhaps !! Was the winch trouble to fit onto the standard Jimny front ??

Sound as a pound man !

I think the hardest part would be removing the bumper to be honest and thats not very hard at all. You weld a plate between the two chassi legs at the front to mount the winch to then cut the bumper to fit the winch. Type in the search bar winch in standard bumper and there is some very good pictures. I have not done mine yet but i hope to get it fitted very soon.

Thanks
James
