winch not working

test my winch today and its not working, i used it last weekend and it was fine.

i press the in or out button and all i get is tick,tick,tick,tick noise.
if taken the solinoid cover off and its the solinoids clicking really fast.

has the motor died or is it my solinoids??

sounds like the solenoids

To me, it sounds like your battery is flat!
(or at least, there is insufficient voltage getting to the solenoid which could be a wiring issue as well as the battery being flat - but the battery is the most likely option)

Why does it happen?
The solenoid contacts close, connecting the motor to the battery. The motor draws a big current, which causes the battery voltage to drop below the threshold the solenoid needs to operate so the coil de-energises and the contacts open. The battery voltage recovers, now there is a lower current draw allowing the coil to re-energise, closing the contacts again - repeating the process.

i have stripped it down this afternoon cleaning everything up, i put i back together and it stiill didn't work, it started to get dark out side so i gave it a go again and i saw a flash from my battary cut of switch
must of arc inside.
so i checked that, it didnt look very good so i pulled the wires off and connected them together and the winch works.

so must of been like you said not enough power. cut off switch must be dodgy inside

so need another, im glad it got dark so i could see the arc from the switch

as for the solenoids i cant believe how dirty everything was, i have the bridge model


all the mud had gone in the top ,so i have cleaned and wire brushed the connections
