Aerial was created by grumpy22
Bit like the grand old duke of York my aerial is neither up not down. Its been soaked in plus gas and penetrating oil for well over a month and I want to have a bash at returning it to full up and down capability!
Any suggestions as to the best way forward?

I had the same trouble and sorted last weekend with penetrating oil and a lot of careful twisting, pulling and pushing, lots more oil, more twisting and pulling! Eventually got it up! Ooo Err Misses!!
Once fully extended I lightly rubbed it with some mild sand paper to remove the rough patches causing it to bind, wiped it down and oiled it up.
Don't be too heavy handed as it will bend very easily so you have pull it in the right linear direction. Do a bit and then oil it a bit etc working it in and out and it should come free. Took me about 30 mins and you do have to pull quite hard.

Cheers for that, just a thought what's the fully extended length? Mines stuck up about 15 inches so should I pull it out further or push it in?
Geez this is an odd conversation.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Never seen a whole one. Every one I've seen is about 6" long, because it got snapped off, and the broken top section gets jammed into what is left.
A new one is £1,000,000 from Suzuki, and the hard top one is different to a convertible, so whatever you do, don't break it
