crank shaft nut was created by grumpy22
started doing the cambelt tonight. everything going OK but I can't shift the crankshaft nut. Tried my usual tricks but still wont budge. (in gear hand brake on, in low handbrake and chocked wheel, finally breaker bar between chassis and anti roll bar and turning over engine on key)

nothing shifts it....

it's a 17mm nut but what sort of torque.

I'm guessing I can't change the belt without remiving the crankshaft pully so the nut has to come off

suggestions please (Oh the rad is stll in place access is fine)

thanks

just had another look with a mirror, can I just remove the smaller nuts to remove just the pulley???

I'm amazed that a breaker bar under the chassis rail wouldn't fetch it off with the starter.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Nope, that one worked even on landies. Removing the small bolts means the crank nut can stay in place though.

More problems and solutions and further problems in another post though
