General wear finishes them off too. My Jimny hadn't seen 4WD when i bought it 2 years ago, let alone mud!
I'm going to slap some waterproof grease around my swivels when i get chance this week. Keep the water ingress to a minimum.

4Wd when off roading in the dry breaks the transmission

You need some slippage to use it.

You can't win ;)

Just don't go through muddly water.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Good lord! So you want to have 2 rubbish cars??? A ford AND a land rover??? ;)

www.samaritans.org/talk_to_someone.aspx get some help quick!

I think the lower bearing design is feeble, as others have said just general wear can kill them. I hadn't used mine off road for a long while and they were still shot. Bumpy roads and just water and salt from the roads can dry them out.

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!
