Seized bolts holding hub !!!! was created by hathome
Hi All

Finally took a couple of days off to sort the King Pin Bearings - Was all going well until I got to the four bolts holding the disc backplate & hub to the knuckle. These are so baldly corroded that the size is now somewhere between 14 & 13mm and I'm unable to shift them!! :( :( Anyone with experience on this who can offer help would be much appreciated.

PS - Martin (mlines) - Thanks for all your help so far.

You don't need to un-do them.

Nor do you need to remove the disc.

If you remove the kingpins, seperate the ball joint(s) and remove the bolts holding the large hub seal, the entire hub will come off (remember to keep the pipes/wires slack) leaving the shaft in place. When you replace, point the half shaft upwards and locate the hub over the top of it, and push.

Just noticed today that one of mine is leaking oil again, was only repaired a few months ago :(

What is it that kills these bearings / seals?

Water. Especially muddy water. Or salty water. Or just water.

They are like Gremlins. Do NOT get them wet. ;)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
