suspension question was created by FIRSTJIMNY
What happens when a Jimny has a 3 inch lift but does not have those bushing adjustments in those arms?

You change the castor angle so you lose the self centreing in the steering. I found it to bad when driving on motorways, wobbles in and out of the tram lines left by lorries. If its not a daily driver then you may be ok with it. A steering damper will help a bit. Prehaps lift it, see how it drives, and then decide if you want to put the bushes in. Makes it much nicer to drive with them in. Its not 100%, for that you would need new longer arms, but that costs alot more than the bushes. Ive got correction bushes and a steering damper on mine and i use it every day and iam happy with it.

What he said plus it makes the steering a little light. I got used to mine and left it with nothing but It's down to the individual, so try it and see. Off road it makes no difference at all.

3 Deg castor bushs for a 3" lift dose not give enough castor for a 3" lift IMO. I had my castor angle check digitally after i put the bushs in...the castor angle was still out by 1 deg to what suzuki recommend!!! The car wonder's all over the road, steering is rubbish, steering dose not self center at all. I would highly recommend longer arm's with standard radius arm bush (more flexy ;) ) over castor bushs. As 'kirkynut' said if it's not driven daily you may be fine...but other wise longer arms is the best option for a 3" IMO.

BTW a steering damper will only cover up the issue...not fix it ;)

Your right about needing longer arms. However i use mine daily on CC bushes. Some days i find the steering fine, other it can be a bit annoying, depends on my mood! I think now i have had it a while i will look at getting longer arms. I dont have to far to drive to work everyday and for long trips i use the parents car ;) I think on a long trip it would get a bit tireing. As people have said its down to personal opinion. However fitting CC bushes and a damper will vastly improve handling from not having either, IMO.

Thanks for the help. I definitely have all those symptoms. Who do you know that makes the extended arms, or who would you suggest?

I'm not clear about one thing. Do the extended arms require the corrected castor bushings or not, or do they automatically come with them and what degree of castor do you need?
