Clutch - high biting point was created by Adamski
As per the subject, the bite on my clutch is now very high, I've tried adjusting it with the plastic nut on the cable which has made it feel tighter and more clutch like however the bite is still very high. I believe the clutch was replaced just before I got the car about 18 months ago so it is fairly new however it has seen a bit of off roading and I do a lot of towing with my Jimny so the cluch does get a hard life. The clutch pedal has 14cm of travel (which I believe is normal?) and i would say the clutch is fully enguaged within the last 3/4cm. Does it sound like I need to replace the clutch?
How much would you expect it to cost to have the clutch replaced in a ('reputable' backstreet) garage?
What clutch do people recommend?
Thanks,
Adam.

tbh i don't think 18 months is that bad if its had some offroad use & alot of towing
its not a hard job to replace the clutch yourself i think a garage will charge around £250 to £300 to replace it for you
i always use www.calderclutch.co.uk/ £45 for a clutch from there

I would say about £250-300 depending on where you go, supplied and fitted but I would make sure you have a good quality one.
I used a QH clutch on my old SJ and was very happy with what it survived, Ihave read other good reports on LUK clutches too.
