Hardened Half Shafts & CV's - do they exist?

You are absolutely right! Stoopid idea! I think you have to go through them though - even if it's just to discount them.

For the record, Toyota and Land Rover are very similar - just bigger! On a LR you can un-bolt the front swivels, but on the Toyota, they are welded to the end of the axle tube - but the swivels & seals work in exactly the same way.

Today, I removed the back axle and trial fitted the Toyota one. I'll post pic IRS in the other thread tomorrow. Moved back 7cm, it all fits quite well and the 37" tyres (I already have) will fit with a small suspension lift.
