Tail light electrical problem was created by Ally
Hi, new member on here. Have a problem with tail lights and number plate lights no working, Rear indicators and Fog lamp OK on a V rege Jimny and fuse is OK and front side and headlights work fine.
Any one got any suggestions what the problem could be and where to start looking.
Cheers.
Ally.

Hi, I'm no expert but there's a wiring diagram in the down loadable manual which will help.
We had a similar kind of prob just before last MOT the wiring loom is buried under all of the plastic which takes a while to remove after a lot of testing it turned out to be a broken wire just near a connector block near the back door. It would hav e been easier just to run fresh wires!

Hopefully some one with more knowledge will be along shortly to help you out
atb
Mike

I had broken wires on the connector plug that is behind a rubber grommit in the passenger side rear wheel arch, you can get at it by pulling the grommit out and pulling the connector plug through the hole. Ive cut off and fitted new plugs to a couple of jimnys now, they seem to fill with water and grit and corrode. May not be the same problem but id start there.

Thanks guys for that information I have checked just about every connector I could find but didn't know there was one hidden where the wires come out at the back wheel arch.
Cheers.

hi
i had the same problem on a 51 plate
the wires run very close to the exhaust along the rear bumper
check these wires first for signs of damage or a brake in the wire

hope this helps
it took me ages to find the problem on mine

As above, i had the same problem. My towbar wiring had melted against the exhaust and was shorting out. Mine kept blowing fuses though.

Good luck cable chasing!

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!
