standard pannard rods are very weak .. you can bend one across your knee.

The easiest way of re-enforcing them is to weld angle iron across the length.

but as has been said, the welds need to be spot on and you can harden the bar locally causing fatigue spots.

I like the CDS option

I'm getting a spare rod from a mate of a mate so I can have a go without destroying the ones attached to the jimny. If I can suss out the length of the panhard for the 3" lift I might just get hold of some thicker walled tubing and weld the bush eyelets onto the end of it, hopefully making a much stronger solution.

Would it be possible to get tube the size of the bush eyelets and make the whole thing out of that? or is it going to be far too beefy?

I need to have a look under the car to see if there are any clearance issues if I'm going to fit a thicker panhard. I think I'm going to go down the solid bar approach and the thicker the better then weld the eyelets on the end, that should create something up to the job. All the pointers you guys have made are appreciated and made me think about safety a bit more, so thumbs up fellas.

Zanfi also sells a spacer for the front (the only one i've ever seen actually)
I just mounted my panhards from JimnyBits a few hours ago, the weight difference is huge, the stock ones weight like plastic bars...
But i needed to shorten them at the max to have a good alignement, pretty strange with 3" lift i find...
My steering wheel has moved to keep the wheels in the right position, but it's so logical, and regarding to the degrees it took, i'm now pretty sure there wasn't only approx 3mm to correct!
