Was a hard roof ever made for soft-tops? was created by X-Eng Simon
On some soft-top vehicles where the sun-roof portion is made of fabric, there is an option for a solid (GRP?) insert. I wondered if such a thing was ever available for soft top Jimny's?
A fabric roof doesn't provide much protection from rocks & branches in the event of a roll-over. I'm going to have to make something - but if something ready made is available it would be a lot neater / quicker!

There was/is but unfortunately not cheap, as a new part anyway.
Have a look at this

See what you mean! For that money I could get the elves at the bottom of the garden to forge one out of unobtanium!
Maybe some nice Aluminium sheet would do instead!

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Most parts on a jimny are hand carved from solid platinum, then gold plated by the price
I migrated from the green oval, and jimny spares are almost exactly 10 times the price of a Landrover equivalent
(propshaft uj LR £4 Jimny £45 to quote just one example)

However, a £4 UJ for a land rover is worth exactly £4 - possibly even less. A Genuine UJ is about £35 to £40 but lasts more than 10x longer.
I suspect the Suzuki UJ is a genuine part - so not terribly spiteful.
You are right though on most aftermarket parts like bumpers and the like - but at the moment ist's just supply & demand. As time goes by, that will change.
