Wheels, what happened in 05? was created by InverChuck
I see adverts for aftermarket wheels labelled 98-05 and 2005 on... so what's the difference?

They change the diameter of the hub centre by a tiny fraction (107mm to 108.3mm)

Therefore new wheels will fit older cars whilst older wheels are not guarateed to fit newer cars unless the hub centres are large enough.

Was there some good reason for that change?

I think it is to accommodate alloy wheels that mount on the hub ring. There was some problem with the early alloys distorting when the nuts were done up tight.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Pretty sure the newer hubs have the Suzuki 'S' on the centre of the hub (in the casting)

I have the 3 spokes that distort... and you have to be very careful and remember to tighten the nuts diagonally to make sure the wheel is pulled on straight
