I've just replaced my rear wheel bearing, and to get the half shaft out you have to remove the hand brake cable from the brake backing plate ...
I always struggle in removing the cable through the hole as the cable has a 'pronged gizmo' that holds it in place ...
Has anyone got a tool (bought or own-made) to make the removal easy??

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Just jab one prong inwards with a screwdriver, and bend the cable away from the prong to pull the tang through, jab another and bend again*, then jab the third and it pulls out.
*you can't let the first one back through when you do the second bend.
