Jimny Performance Exhausts was created by Bannerbrother
I've seen a few videos and pics with jimnys with different exhausts and back boxes (some look like bike rear boxes)
Has anyone experimented fitting different exhaust and boxes??
What sort of results did you get??
Does anyone make a sports exhaust for the jimny?

KAP do a sports back box, its about £150+ with the VAT. I'm not sure if its stainless and looking at it i'd doubt it.
I'm getting one of those as its an off the shelf solution, otherwise your options are to knock something up as others have done. These include:
Other car centre boxes with a tailpipe welded on
bike cans
cherry bomb
other options i've found while looking around are other cars with a similiar layout, i've found mg midgets do and you can get a stainless or some aftermarket beetle exhaust may fit with a bit of work(the ones with a single outlet).

I would imagine that the box kap must be quite good, proved and tested if they are selling it straight off the shelf. let me no how it goes.
I might look at somthing like that in the future as bodging and make shifting exhausts might end up creating few negative effects could prove to be a expensive trial and error excercise unless i can find a supply of cheap bike cans .

Theres plenty of cheap cans but the quality of the kap box (or how it appears in the pictures) sways it for me. If i had the money i'd be getting the full kap competition system including tubular manifold. IIRC £625

to get any benefit from an exhaust the whole system will need to be replaced. engine performance is increased when the back pressure from the exhaust pipe is reduced. the best and most effective method of doing this is to widen the exhaust's bore.
but to get the benefits you will need to widen the entire system not just the centre pipe or back box. The KAP system in addition to the bore diameter also adds the tuned exhaust manifold further increasing the performance.
now once you have the KAP system (and a K&N) you will run into another issue, the ECU is mapped to run the engine with bog standard settings and is unlikey to work well with a sports exhaust and this can even reduce power output. To get the best performance you will want to get the jimny remapped after the exaust install. This will tune the engine to run with the higher spec exhaust and air inflow.
all in your looking at around £1000 pounds if you do it right. you can fit a nice sounding exhaust if you like but i expect a standard one will go fater
P.S. if you do go down this route make sure you have high octane fuel in the tank you get an extra few BHP for it but you'll need to run the vehicle on super all (most) of the time.

I'm not doing it for any performance gains. I understand whats involved with going faster and on small n/a engines the bore is critical. Not just increasing the bore, the primaries need to be designed specific to the engine etc....
I don't think any of us want it for speed just to sound a bit meatier.
