And if it doesn't, try not to swear too much!
I take it the car was working fine before you laid it up?
What have you worked on. Is there anything you could have disturbed, especially around the steering column or ecu?
Have you welded on the car with the battery connected?
Have you jump started it from another battery and possibly spiked the ecu?
I'm still wild guessing if I'm honest. Just trying to offer the limited help I can on electrical things.

Yes working OK.
Fixed cv.s, brakes so nothing electrical.
Did jump start from another battery at one point.....
I do have a road going Jimny so am able to swap parts and carry out a process of elimination but the last thing I would want to do is damage parts from my working vehicle... especially the "black box" which is a mystery to me. Mechanical things and basic electrical stuff is fine but when it gets to immobilisers and ECU's I get a bit worried.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

The flashing check engine light means that it is immobilised.
Could be as simple as having both keys on the same keyring, the chips in the keys interfere with each other.

OK so it is the immobiliser that is stopping the engine starting. What can I do about that ?
Both keys will not start the car and they are not kept together.
One key was a replacement which we got through Suzuki about 2 years ago at a cost of about £90.......
Appreciate any comments as to what to do next.
(Am I faced with taking it to the nearest dealer?)

Download a copy of the manual and have a look at the immobiliser section: it is possible to make the immobiliser produce diagnostic codes.
The immobiliser module stores the key codes and the ecu, so it looks like you need a matched set of keys, immobiliser module and ecu or a dealer/someone with a suzuki scantool type programmer to sort it out.
I'm sure someone posted about this fault before, but I don't recall a solution being posted.
It could have been here or jimmy.se or suzuki4u.co.uk

Thanks for that. Will go and have a look in a copy of the manual and see if that helps with resolving problem. Will let you know how I get on.
