My “T†reg Jimny has been on SORN while I sort out a few issues after a lot of abuse thrown at it whilst taken part in various winch challenge events. When I went to start it recently, it would not fire. Checked the usual; petrol is ok, turns over but there is no spark. Fitted a known good ignition pack off of another Jimny still would not start. CHECK ENGINE light continually flashes. Disconnecting battery does not clear this.
Any ideas as to where I should look next would be appreciated.

You could really do with a diagnostic check on it. Can this not be done with a paperclip in certain pins of the OBD diagnostic port on these early ones Martin? It makes the engine check light flash according to the code does it not?
I can't remember to be sure.
Have you tried the spare key. I'm clutching at straws to be honest but have a niggling thought it could be the immobiliser system messing about. I don;t want to frighten you with that as I really don;t know if it could be the case but worth a try.
