HI THIS MAY BE A REALLY STUPID QUESTION TO YOU GUYS HERE IT GOES,
IV CHANGED BOTH KING PIN BEARING OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS BUT NOW NEED TO REPLACE THE SEALS. AFTER LOOKING AT THEM I NOTICED THAT THE TWO METAL OUTER RINGS ARE SPLIT WHICH I CAN GET ON BUT HOW DOES THE RUBBER SEAL GET OVER THE SWIVEL JOINT AS IT HAS'NT GOT A SLIT IN IT OR WILL IT STRETCH OVER.???
YOUR HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED

Unless you have it all apart for the kingpin job, i was advised on here that the workshop manual states to cut them. I did this recently one side was apart so theres enough room but cut the other side. Just put the join away from the other join in the metal rings.
According to the service schedule these should be changed every 12months.
* theres no need to shout either lol!

I wouldn't cut them as the gap where they have been cut will let water through. I read to cut them but would not for this reason.

2 choices:
Leave them until you inevitably have to replace the kingpin bearings again and don't cut them, until i learnt that they needed doing annually they'd been on for 2+ years of my ownership without changing so potentially 3 years or more.
Or cut them, when i cut mine i was a bit dubious about how it would work but when you push the seal in theres no gap i triple checked and the metal rings prevent any movement. Just make sure you use something very sharp and clean so its a good cut. Cutting them is less than ideal imo but i'm not about to pull it all apart for a 5minute job.
