are they all the same was created by vitara_mad
are all jimny sohc engines the same ???
thinking of taking one out of a soft top w reg & fitting it into a hard top w reg
they look same but just thought i would check first to make sure there is not some slight differance that will cause it not to run in the hard top jimny

I believe that in all the major components they are the same. There may be some minor component changes here and there but in the major physical components they are identical.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

There have been some posts about missing sensors, the hard top will be a Japanese built car, the soft top Spanish, this might make a difference.

Look at the sensors fitted to the hard top cam, crank or both together, and make sure the soft top has the same.
I'm sure I read posts about having to change the oil pump housing between engines to solve this problem.

thanks for the tips will have a look & hope they are same if not then it wont be getting swapped over as dont want to be changing engine parts about.

Some soft-tops have a different downpipes and cats on them than the two in the manual. They only produced these for a few months between 2000 and 2001 according to the local garage.
