Symptoms of a failed kingpin bearing? was created by JonathonMarshall
Just wondering because there was an advisory on the drivers front kingpin bearing on the MOT. I think it may have gone but i'm wondering what the evidence of that would be, noises, feeling etc etc. Cheers all

If u jack the wheel off the ground and grip the wheel top and bottom, then waggle. If there is play its the kingpins.

Hi
Are the kingpins generic? Does it depend on year or place of manufacture at all? I've also noticed that there is a KOYO kit and FAG kit? Is it just a case of different manufacturers?
Thanks

All bearings with the same part number (30302 in this case) should be the same. However, there have been reports in the past that some variants don't fit.
Therefore I stock Koyo, which are the brand you get if you go to the Suzuki dealers, part with an arm and a leg, and get a Suzuki branded one. When you open the packet it says Koyo.
It is not always possible to get Koyo so you will see other brands that fit (such as FAG) appearing in the shop.
The ones to really avoid are very cheap "white box" Chinese ones. They come in plain white boxes anda re really cheap but I have hear reports that they last a matter of minutes in the rough stuff.
