I use a 2m strop between 2 recovery points on the front using 2 bluepin bow shackles, i run it through the loop of a 4m strop and then use another shackle if necessary to attach to another vehicle to recover.
I've yet to try it, but if it reaches i'm going to attach a carabina(sp) onto the roof bar to keep it out of the way.

I have another strap for recovering from the rear and usually hook it over the towball, i'd never snatch this way though (see my comments on recoveries in the recovering landies thread :) ) I just need to get another longer strap as they're sometimes a bit limiting for the recovering truck.
