Slid my jimny today down a steep hill on pure ice and had to take evasive action ( skid pan training kicked in lol )
Wife pooped herself lol.
Started sliding because some old woman made me brake harshly comming out a junction, tried dabbing brakes....nothing - sheet ice. Span the wheel and handbraked - aimed into kerb and dissaster was evaded :)
down the street saw 3 crashes, 1 car on its roof, 2 smashed....all seperate accidents :(

Watch out people, doesnt matter what tyres etc you have, ice is ice!!!!

Drive safe :)

Bert

Funny you should mention tyres... were not far from you, just the other side of the firth.

In wick on thursday i was driving down the steep sweeping exit to the pets at home mini retail park when a skoda tried to turn up the hill, he slid strait at me wheels locked up. I just whiped it sideways and then back around him nothing but grip this on sheet ice.

Winter tyres grip like velcro, the only time they wiggle is on ice in 2wd but thats due to the lack of weight on the back axel not the tyres.

well i've opted for Cooper Discoverer ATRs due to all of the road miles I do and they have given superb grip. I've done around 1000 miles while the snow was down in the past couple of months and yesterday was the first time they've given and in fairness, its ice!
Where up in Scotland are you? I am trying to get back up before the winter's out. Next month maybe.

I got them too mate, kinda happy medium as you say.

Found them to be pretty good, better in more severe conditions than the Duelers that were on it - good nick Duelers to, kept them anyway.
