One of the cars I drive when I'm back in Cyprus is a bog standard Jim with road tyres on.
It might be the type of tarmac in the roads up in the hills and villages but I can 4 wheel drift it when getting a little 'giddy'.
Having said that, so do the Pajero, Patrol, Izuzu, X3, Sj & C180.
So it might be a combination of tarmac type and tyres?

Get one, you'll have a smile, ok a slower one, on your face.

K:)

To answer Questions:- Car has no lift yet! I have seen a couple of jimnys with 7x15 wheels fitted with 195 tyres and to my eye the tyres look a bit narrow for these wheels ie the sidewall bulges out to the rims I think std jimny steels look better but you may be able to gain extra track width without spacers if thats what you are after, black looks cool as well!

Then you first fit special tracks after being on std tyres it feels like having a bag of cement stuck to each corner of the car. Grip on the road feels ok but the steering is less precise the whole car less nimble. Noise is not to bad no worse than from the Colaway c-trak muds i have on my Fourtrak but they rumble more as you come to a stop.

hope this helps.

If you know someone with one try and get a lengthy test drive in one. I took mine around an industrial estate and briefly on a dual carriageway but it wasn't until you get a few miles in one that you really see if you're likely to get on with one.
Alomg the same lines as martin here, personally i've always had a soft spot for little zuks so the test drive was a formality, my mind was already made up. I would say if you're already into the idea you'll see past the quirks they have.

Black Jimny's don't get stuck!

I think, as you now know what to look for, what the disadvantages are and how they are to live with because of reading up here, you will know what to expect and probably turn out better than you thought!

Dont expect it to be luxurious and posh and you will be rewarded with fun and a nice cheeky little offroader :-)
