We only got one when we collected it and started looking into getting a spare- the basic door key is cheap but apparently the alarm fob on our vehicle has to be somewhere close to ignition switch for the immobiliser. It is posible to tape the fob part of a broken key to the cowling and just use an ordinary key if you aren't bothered about the alarm. Local locksmith quoted £65 for a new chipped key but in the end we got in contact with the people we had bought it off and they had found the spare- always worth a go!

My central locking fob packed up about 18 months ago, so ive used the key like normal - the battery went and i couldnt be arsed to get one, simples as that :) I used it fine like a normal key - it worked fine along with the spare key that came with it. Not a problem. I was just plain lazy

My old man borrowed my truck during the icey weather and announced next time he was going to town, he'd take the key fob with him and get it fixed. One £2.99 battery in the local market cured the problem, didnt even have to reset the immobiliser. Best of all - didnt cost me a penny, and i didnt have to fetch it - i just took the spare key for the day and my old man took the fob with him when he went shopping   Bargain!!!!

i thought it was my battery so i got it changed but then it packed up totally and had the diaster of trying to get in my car without the alarm going off but it would not let me start it with the alarm engaged and i couldnt switch it off. i messed about with the battery and kept pressing the fob and it finally went off but i dnt dare use it now. the next step is to remove the old alarm and fit a new one. it is not a factory fitted one it is made by flash point but not sure if it will mess up the immobliser when its removed but time will tell lol.

I've has two batteries in mine now - the first last all of half a day and the second is the one ive got in now - lasted over a week already :-) The first came from a well know high street key cutters, the second from the local market for a lot less - wheres the logic - I dunno??!!!

When i first bought my truck it had a sparkrite alarm fitted. The dealer told me it worked - yeah, it worked, second day i had it, it went off at 4 in the morning and every day for the rest of the week, i couldnt get in it without it going off - i'd leave for work at 4.30  so i popped the bonnet and found the wiring. There was a nice in line fuse that got pulled, the alarm was disconnected from the battery, but also some magic wires lead up through the bulk head. A quick pull on the glove box, revealed the brains for the alarm, taped to the back of the glove box. Low and behold there was a second battery on that, incase the main one died. 2 secs later, one battery in the bin, my neighbourly alarm clocked was deactivated  Might be worth having a look at the alarm set up. Funnily, the alarm and fob had a nice big sticker - In the event of a problem just call sparkrite - that joined the battery in the bin!!!! :silly:
