Hi,this is my 2nd post since joining this great and informative site,i purchased my jimny soft top last thursday, before handed any money over i noticed 3 of the studs for jhe hood were broken, they sent the jimny to a hood specialist and they replaced all the studs, the salesman told me not to detatch them at the moment during the cold weather as they would be difficult to press in again but i need to use the boot,i thought about smearing them with vaseline any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

Hi I'm no expert on the Jimny soft top but have plenty of experience of soft top cars, assuming the hood specialist is competent the studs should be well attached, the only issue I can see is that cold weather tends to make hoods contract and to be less flexible so it is harder to stretch the holes over the studs satisfactorily to clos ethe gaps, best thing would be to stick car in a warm garage over night which should soften things up a bit. If you haven't got a warm garage handy run a fan heater inside car for 20 minutes or so [making sure it doesnt melt the seats!] which should have same result.
