getting a jimny stuck in snow

i previously had a jeep cherokee and used to get it stuck in the snow regularly, with the forcast threatening rain i went out today for a last play with the sole intention of getting stuck... i failed. the little tike floats over deep powder, its like ski-ing the snow was two foot deep but the jimny would only sink 12" and made it possible to get to our ram whom we could bearly walk over to check on.

i was ok on fresh snow however when it got compacted the jimny just sat and spung

i to went out today to take some hay to feed the deer, i had to go through about two and a half foot of snow, in a park where no other tracks had been, the hill was a one in 4, so once i was commited i had to go, started to go across the hill thinking it would make it easier to get back up, how wrong was i she just started to slide so headed straight down to the bottom the snow was coming over the spots on the front, i had a bit of a panic on knowing i had been stupid even to try this so at the bottom i fed the deer turned around and started to go up, well trying was the word two foot forward three foot back to cut a bloody long story short i did manage to get back up but it did take me half an hour, once i had go a good track made,the going started to get easy,it just goes to show these little trucks will go anywhere truly awsome i will get some pics up later........:laugh: :laugh: i do a fair bit of offroading as i am a deer stalker and am off road more than i am on so this wasnt just a play in the snow i had to get some feed out. lol:laugh:

we have 16" GV wheels with 215/65/16 nokian WRG2 SUV www.nokiantyres.com/tyre?id=11195214&gro...ame=Nokian+WR+G2+SUV

we let them down to 18psi with trailhead auto deflators

i purchaced the WGR2(which are a european winter tyre) as opposed to a nordic snow tyre as i have a VW Tigaun on order which on arrival (14th jan) will have the nokians to transfered to it, as this will be my 'highway car'.

at which time i will be re tyreing the jimny again!

i am stuck between a nordic snow tyre or baja claws!
i cant decide whether to go for maximum ground contact or the big agricultural lugs. the only factor involved is deep snow ability, after researching the iclandics they always use mud terrains, but... i wonder if this is due to the lack of 37"-48" snow tyres, their heavy vehicles requiring the huge tyres to create a suitably large footprint, where as a jimny on 265/70's snow tyres will probably still have lower ground pressure, with the added benefit of copius 3d sipping, a huge nummber of biting edges and soft rubber.
i like bridgeston dmv1, dmz3 and michelin latitude alpine.

went out today with the jimny loaded with spuds ,barley about 6 100 weight to feed the ducks/geese was very impressed she held better and coped with the snow with all the extra weight
down the side of the pond theres a tricky bit
most of the ponds frozen over only the spring fed area not

the second pic is from the top of the hill down to the big banking with the few trees on it.

:laugh: i know baz but i was commited mate had to get back up lol looking back it was a laugh but at the time i was sick as hell for been so daft in the first place, i do know now she will go anywhere :laugh:
