Hi everyone,I'm having a persistent problem with my 2005 Suzuki Jimny 1.5 DDiS diesel and I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar. The symptoms:It started with the glow plug and engine management warning lights coming on or flickering while driving. Initially, the engine continued running perfectly normally, with no loss of power or change in engine sound.Over time, the problem got worse. The warning lights start flickering, the engine sound changes, and then the engine suddenly cuts out without any hesitation or misfiring.I can restart it immediately, even while the car is still rolling by selecting a lower gear and releasing the clutch. After the car has been parked for a while, it can sometimes run perfectly for an entire day. However, once the problem starts, it occurs more and more frequently. What the garage has already checked:
  • Fuel injection pump tested on a test bench – OK.
  • Injectors tested on a test bench – OK.
  • A fault related to fuel pressure was detected.
  • Original ECU sent away for repair, but the repair was unsuccessful.
  • Several replacement ECUs tested. The engine starts normally with all of them, but the fault remains or changes.
  • The garage believes the immobilizer and wiring are not the cause.
Original ECU details:
  • Manufacturer: Delphi
  • Type: DDCR R0410C142B
  • Part numbers: 8200334540 / 8200450861
  • Additional identification number: 8200331685
I'm wondering whether the ECU itself is really faulty, or whether this could be a heat-related electrical issue, such as a bad ECU ground connection, power supply, main relay, fuel pressure regulator or crankshaft position sensor.Has anyone experienced similar symptoms with a Jimny 1.5 DDiS?I'm particularly interested in anyone who has dealt with this Delphi ECU or intermittent engine stalling.Any advice, suggestions or experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

It really sounds like there is a wiring or sensor issue like you say. Or a fuel issue like the control valve or it sucks air.

The Renault engine code is K9K and the same engine have been used on other cars as well so a search on the engine type can give more answers. Jimny diesel is still pretty rare.

The K9K has a crankshaft sensor, the same as the petrol engines, and we usually start here if there are no fault codes as loss of crankshaft signal is the same as the engine stalling, so it isn't flagged as an error.
This will light up the dash as the car just thinks the engine is stopped with the ignition on.

I'd just swap it out and hope for the best, it is cheaper than paying a garage for diagnostics and you can check the wiring to it at the same time. (It is often called a CKP sensor)

EDIT: top of the bell housing.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)
