Hi all,

I bought our first Jimny yesterday, a 2012 1.3 auto. 

The first couple of accessories I'd like to fit are a roof rack and awning. Does anyone have any recommendations for a Front Runner style rack? I'm considering the Front Runner itself but it's around £1000 and my main concern is that it could get stolen...

Open to any similar options though, I'd prefer that style of rack that bolts to the Jimny fixing points. It'll be used for light luggage in Pelican cases or similar.

Also an appropriately sized awning that is more or less the same length as the JB23 roofline.

Just be aware that some of those flat racks can weigh almost all the roof carrying capacity on their own, as it's only 30kg. I made my own that weighs 5kg out of stainless steel and iroko wood.

Ah thanks yes that's a good point. The one I was looking at is 24kg so doesn't leave a huge amount for extras.

I hadn't considered making my own but that's a great idea!

My car with a roof rack, awning, and camping gear weigh more than 1500kg and the trailer more than 400kg. Once this summer even 2000 kg when I checked.
So the roof limit is not the only problem going overlanding with a Jimny.
My awning weigh only 16kg. Small but fits the car.
It is a OVS 270 and was ordered from usa. 
I would like awning wall too, but will not order from the us now. 
Roof rack is jimnybits aluminium.
Norway -84 SJ410, 87 SJ413 lwb, 88 sammy trailer.
2005 Jimny M16A VVT, 235 Cooper Disco, 2" Trailmaster, ARB rear lck.
