Dunlop are disappointing. was created by Lambert
As part of the ongoing litany of deep disappointment stemming from the gen4 I'm now having to write off a tyre because of a thorn. It's gone through right on the edge of the tread on the sidewall and nowhere is prepared to even put a patch on the inside not even a plug just a flat vulcanising patch like you would on a tractor. What is galling is it's only done 12000 miles. What is super maddening is it was a thorn, how cheap and nasty does a tyre have to be to be damaged by a thorn? On a pushbike tyre yeah ok, but a tyre that outwardly claims to have some all terrain capacity and it's defeated by a pointy bit of a plant. Temeraire drove round parkwood which is full of all kinds of pointy things and didn't notice, the yellow peril drives in the same postcode as a thorn bush and writes off 80 plus quid of virtually new tyre.
In case it doesn't show I'm having a sense of humour failure.

Are we discussing the Dunlop AT20s that Suzuki fitted as OE rubber is some markets?
If yes, then I agree, they were a huge disappointment for me - my first Gen4 came with those and within a year I had swapped them out for General Grabber A/Tx in a 215/75R15 making the Jimny much more stable on road - to quote the missus (it's her car), it doesn't dance as much.
Several of the Jimny owners who bought from that shipment also changed tyres within the first year of ownership.
My second Gen 4 (a five door) came with Bridgestone Duellers, which were a huge improvement over the AT20s, but I didn't keep those long either, another set of the Grabbers was fitted.
This is not a sense of humor failure, I genuinely think the Dunlops couldn't keep my wife safe.

The Dunlop AT20 is an O/E equipment tyre used on 4x4s built by Toyota, Nissan and Suzuki. Built to be used by the bulk of owners as a quiet easy running tyre with a decent life, i.e. no spirited driving on dirt tracks! Lamberts thorn must have penetrated at the perfect impact angle to go all the way in. From memory, tyre repair specialists are forbidden to repair a tyre damaged in the manner described. Personally I would remove the tyre and fit a patch or use one of the repair kits that insert a short length of rubber cord.

The only thing I'll say in favour of the Dunlop AT20s, is that since swapping out my alloys with G015s for steels with AT20s, my economy has improved hugely.
Not sure if that's because they have less rolling resistance or if the steels are more 'aero', but I'm averaging closer to 40mpg, rather than 35mpg before. Crazy.

I'm not about to change them unless it becomes a problem/habit as like I said they haven't done a lot of work. The one with the hole is now on the back door where it will stay until it's muck or nettles when I will pump it up to get me to a place of safety, as it's only losing 1 or 2 psi a day.
