Just been looking at amazon and found a supplier of gen3 headlight lenses in left and right. Am I wrong in thinking that they were sealed to the reflector bowl. Mine are going cloudy and I'm reluctant to buy some complete units off autodoc as everything I have ever had from them has been wrong and I don't really want to spend 400 quid on led upgrade ones. If they do come apart then that sounds like a good middle path.

Have you thought about a lens restoration kit? Basically a polish kit that restores the outer surface.

wow I had to click back to 2024 to find when I did my headlights. They are still OK actually.
kit cost about 30-40 €/£ back then.

The lenses on a Gen 3 are different between the years. Not sure on when they changed or if there are any other variations but Bigjimny which is 2003 Jimny is different to my 2018 Jimny. BigJimny has nothing around the bulb whereas my 2018 car has dome or shield around the bulb. So you have to be careful when choosing the right lens it would seem.

My 2008 has the shield and I believe my mates 2005 does too, perhaps they updated it when they updated to VVT models.

I have had good luck so far with Autodoc and everything has been correct but I only buy the well known brands and make sure the part numbers match. I haven’t bought any headlights off them but have looked as mine are showing their age with hairline cracks.

Yeah those round led in a surround would be ideal just I'm not sure if I can justify the cost right now.
