Tools and spare parts while traveling was created by AndreasBolivien
Hy friends, I do live in Bolivia. Travel with my 2024 GL MT 5 Door from the Andean mountains to the amazonian jungle. Until now, no technical issues, with exception of a destroyed tire that got caught between sharp stones in the amazonian mud. I do travel very often through bad streets, which are normal in this country. Wonder if you have a list of tools and spare parts I should have in my Jimny.

Welcome to the forum. The main thing is weight and space. Then there's your level of modification with none standard parts. By that what I mean is that if you are running a standard car you can save weight at the expense of time by relying on general parts availability even if you have to wait a day or two to get them. If however you have relatively big tyres for instance and have upgraded to Longfield drive shafts and cv for strength associated with the big tyres then carrying a set of spares becomes paramount as the supply is so limited, same with locking diffs or anything else that isn't easily obtained. But again ultimately it's all about weight and space which is going to already be at a premium if you are living out of your jimny for extended periods. All that said I would definitely have a look at having some means of interfacing with every size and type of fitting on the car but not as complete sets eg why carry a 9mm socket when you won't use it?

Just as important as carrying spares is having the knowledge to know what is wrong and what you need to do to fix it. Before we can advise further, you need to be candid and advise on your level of ability to diagnose and fix problems.

Regardless of ability, if you don't have the spares, no-one else is likely to be able to help you.
Jimny's unless they have not been maintained properly are not likely to break down on you, however it is wise to carry a few spares.
Radial arm bolt and nut. I have personally lost one on a trail and know others that have as well.
Fan belts.
Fuses.
Coil pack.
Tyre repair kit.
Air compressor.
OBD tool - make sure that it works with the Jimny.
Some basic tools.

Bit like the chicken and the egg. I think we should wait until Andreas Bolivien tells us how confident he is with the tools. Personally I think an OBD2 is going a bit far. Just saying.

my OBD tool is a BT device that hook up to my phone.
so it is allways with me plugged in.
no engine parts. it just works.
fluids, oils, gear oil and pump and socket to change the oil or add.
all basic tools and some special.
epoxy glue, super glue, gaffer tape, electrical tape, vulcanizing tape, wires connections, cable ties, nuts and bolts, washers, wheel nuts, various springs, bulbs, fuses, tyre fix kit, kit of gaskets and O-rings, pieces of hose, fixing band, binding wire, most of this is in a box under the seat. jack straps.
extra ARB solenoid.
brake pads as mine are hard to come by,
food, water..
snatch strap, soft shackles, metal shackels, saw, bottle jack, shovel, axe, knives..
some trips I even have brought a spare transfer case
may be I can make a more comprehensive list some day.
didn't we have another thread on this earlier?
bottle of strong comforting fluids when all else fail.
