I am considering doing a few lanes in N. Yorkshire on the Saturday before BigJimny (13th June), starting somewhere near Hawes/Reeth and generally heading south towards the BigJimny meet up.  There are spaces available if you would like to join me, although it will be a fairly small group.

Just to be clear this is NOT an official BigJimny event and is totally separate from their activities.  I propose to run this as a group of friends meeting up to drive a few public lanes which will vary from white stone roads to [mildly rough] tracks across the moors.  Depending how everyone feels we might do the odd river crossing.  What it won’t be is a getting stuck in mud or really difficult sections, you can save that for BigJimny.  Responsibility for your vehicle will lie entirely with you, neither me or BigJimny can accept responsibility for any loss whatsoever.  The route will be along public roads so your Jimny needs to be fully road legal, although some insurance only covers you for driving on paved roads, it’s something you need to check before proceeding.  Clearly the AA aren’t going to come up the hillside if you break down, so we need to implement self rescue, at least to the nearest paved road.

The route will be within the capability of a standard Jimny, but you will need 4x4 at times and AT tyres are recommended.  To give you an idea of what I am thinking off, see the following video
or any of the Reeth to Ripon videos from 2024  www.youtube.com/@drrobinj1652/videos

If you think this is for you post a comment and I will gauge interest.

Robin
