Unlike the SJ diffs the Jimny axles are strong enough it seems. i dinged my SJ diffs so the tin was pressed into the rotating diff inside. Haven't happend with my Gen3 Jimny.
The housing bottom is strong enough to take the weight of the whole car. The round bubbly bell housing is the thinner part that could use reinforcement.
On a SJ the thinner tin part protrudes more and is more often damaged.
On the Gen3 there is lesser need but tradition from the SJ could be what made all these companies make the diff guards.
And the diff guard may have high NIF-numbers I guess..
