Hi all, I’m having my clutch changed at the moment. The new part doesn’t match the old one, and when it was installed it wouldn’t go into first gear. Can anyone confirm which part I need for a non-hydraulic, M13 engine car?
Bought this one off eBay, it apparently fit my car but they are definitely different. Thanks for any help!

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Did it say EXEDY on the box?
If it did, and was genuine, then it should fit without any problems, even though there are more rattle springs on the plate than the original, and the diaphragm has less (but wider) fingers.
The cable has to be adjusted to the new plate thickness, I found that it ran right to the end of the adjustment on mine, if it has been left adjusted for the worn out clutch, it won't move far enough to fully release a new one. (I'd have thought your mechanic would have adjusted it on fitting though, or I wouldn't trust them to do the job
)
Plus Jimnys are quite awkward about selecting 1st gear anyway at rest, most people slip into first just as the wheels are coming to a stop.
