Just watched it. It was actually a repeat as it was originally shown in 2019. For the eagle eyed viewers you will notice that was the now ex Aldermaston site used at the end of the programme. The price they bought that car for was a bit on the high side at that time especially as it didn't have an MOT but in parts alone you could probably make most of that back. However they did ditch the most expensive part on that car which was the removable hard top which would actually have some significant value now if it was in reasonable condition. They didn't do any restoration work and nothing they did added any value to the car so not a great lesson on flipping cars. The only thing they did do correctly was remove that horrible spring over axle lift. If I came across the same car sitting in a junkyard for the same price I would either just break it up for parts to get the most money out of it without having to spend on the car or it would have to be a full blown restoration but then you would lose money and that car wasn't a good base car to be restored to begin with.  So to really flip that car for a profit the answer would be to break it. Interestingly that car never got an MOT and hasn't been on the road since 2015!

I finally  got around to watching it.

It is just "entertainment" really, not to be taken seriously. At least the presenters are more pleasant to watch than that annoying bloke on Car SOS who thinks that he is being funny all the time, the one with the hat must be paid an absolute fortune to put up with him!

The tub & chassis looked pretty solid to me apart from the rear floor, I'm guessing there is a Secret Place where they go that wasn't shown, I remember Ed doing an entire episode tarting one up, even welding in a roll cage, and even he didn't notice that it was too rusty to pass MOT and too much trouble to fix.

I'd have repaired that loose return pipe as the tank looked fine to me otherwise, I was more worried by the state of the pick up pipe.

I thought that casual "cleaning up the parts that no-one will ever see" (as if no prospective purchaser ever looks underneath an off-roader that rots like a pear) was a joke until that lad bought it, apparently without looking underneath!

I don't think it would be a bad buy for £600 today, it looked like a set of U bolts, a couple of seats and a bit of cleaning up would see it on the road (apart from that terminal rot I couldn't see...)

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Just watched it, can't say it inspired me to set a series link for the rest of the show!
I think they'd have been better off giving it a good clean up and machine polish, thought the end result looked worse than when they dragged it out.
Really not sure about that snorkel either, it didn't look like they treated the holes they drilled, and the filter????

Better of watching Bangers and Cash Restoration.

I wasn't impressed with the snorkel, or the matt black (from where I was sitting the red paint was plenty good enough not to need to hide anything except the messy welding inside the rear loadspace), but their target market obviously like that sort of thing, they were trying to copy the SJ that was getting bids on eBay.

The whole program is just pretend, they couldn't possibly run a business like that, (even given it was 5 years ago)- not if it was supposed to bring in two living wages and pay tax.
