I have just had my clutch changed (57 plate) and my 4 wheel drive is not engaging. When I press the 4WD button all I get is the green 4WD symbol flashing on the dashboard. The mechanic at the garage said he didn't touch anything to do with the transfer box.
Have a look underneath and see if there are any wires off the transfer box. Also check around the joint between the engine & gearbox at the top and sides for any trapped wires that have been damaged or are shorted out
You mechanic is extremely skilful if he can change the clutch without disturbing the transfer box!
(Unless he took the engine out, in which case I'd check that the rubber pipe from the inlet manifold to the vacuum tank under the drivers side wing is connected.)
It could just be co-incidence and the vacuum system for the hubs has failed independently of the clutch work through corrosion or a split pipe, but if you are sure 4WD engaged just before it had the work done and now it doesn't, Id look for something that has been disturbed when the work was done.
When did you last try 4WD? I tried mine the Saturday before last, I try it most Saturdays when I park the car up.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there
I used the 4WD about a week ago as the clutch was slipping and it worked fine, I have never had any issues with it. My son was driving when the clutch burnt out and he had to limp it to a parking spot, would this cuase any issues with the 4WD not engaging ?
