Thank you for such a comprehensive and thorough reply! I really appreciate it and this is the exact kind of information I was looking for, and able to take time to digest.
Thank you very much.

I didn't lift mine as such I just went through the after market standard springs to find the longest version of the 3 different springs and that gave me about 10mm over the slightly tired stock springs, I then paired them with koni heavy track adjustable dampers set to their soft settings and bingo spot on ride for a road car, a little lean as it settles into a corner and then holds the line at some fairly good speeds and yet at the same time isn't upset by what passes for paved roads in the UK. Very happy.

I have just bought a Pedders 45mm lift kit from BigJimny for my Gen4 although it isn’t fitted yet. My lift kit was to improve ground clearance and allow me to run taller tyres. Castor correctors are not required, so i will run it and if i find it needs them will fit them afterwards.
Most aftermarket springs/dampers are more likely to be stiffer rather than softer, but some dampers are adjustable so I would go for one of these sets.
Does your Jimny feel like there is no suspension travel at all or does it bang and rattle over the bumps? If it does, it’s likely the dampers are worn out and the springs might have sagged.
Depending how old your current springs/dampers are you might get away with a new set of adjustable dampers or possibly new dampers, new [standard] springs and try to stay around standard height, lifting doesn’t really help on road comfort.
Have a quick look at this article, it’s written about a Gen4, but all is still relevant to a Gen3.

The Koni adjustable always get a good write up (also Bilsen) and another that gets a mention is Trailmaster Comfort, although not sure if these are still available.
You will also need to inform your insurance company as a suspension change is considered a modification.
