Heated seat woes...

Hands up, I should have sorted this months ago. Had all summer to look at it, but didn't.

The drivers heated seat in my 2020 JB74 Jimny no longer works. The switch lights up and it was a gradual degradation in performance, i.e. it took longer to warm up and didn't get as hot. Up until the point it no longer gets warm at all now.

My hunch is the heat pad has failed.

Anyone know where I can a replacement heat pad from and how easy they are to fit?

Due to the utter incompetence of my local dealership and the parting of ways earlier it the year, this will not be a warranty repair and I have no interest in using the dealership for anything. So I plan to tackle myself.

Thanks.

A forum member had a set of elements for sale a couple of years ago. Photos show the part number.

Funny you should post this about heated seats, we went out for dinner tonight, it was a bit nippy and I offered to put the heated seats on for the missus, only to find her side didn’t work, but my side was fine.

The atmosphere in the car was a bit frosty, but after fiddling with the switch I decided it was the switch which was broken (the light didn’t come on) so when we got home, took the switch out and found it had come apart.

I have recovered both parts of the switch, it will go back together if I glue both halves together, but I lost one of the bulbs in to the bottom of the car.

Before I strip the car down to find the bulb, does anyone know if you can buy the switch on it’s own, if it’s not a fortune, I will go for a new switch rather than trying to fix the old one?

There's a 99.9% probability the switches are available separately, and I dare say that Martin probably has access to the parts catalogs and can probably supply, if not let me know and I'll see if I can at least get you a part number that can be ordered from a dealer.

I can't remember the price but you can easily buy the switch, I think I might even have a new switch here somewhere.

I recovered the bulb from inside the switch, it had fallen down near the hand brake and then glued the parts together where the original thin bit of plastic held it together, bottom of this photo.

There isn’t much plastic holding the switch together, so it might be a weak point.
