Jimny Sierra poor dab reception

We have a Jimny Sierra Japanese import, which is great except for the dab radio reception on the Kenwood unit it has been retro fitted with. When I received the car the aerial mast on the roof was not there and it only has a stick on aerial on the passenger side of the windscreen. The dab reception is intermittent at best. Is there a lead which will go from my radio and a compatible mast to fit the existing base on the roof? Any part numbers appreciated.

I miss FM Radio. DAB is so intermittent generally between the mountains here so it is of no practical use unless you are stuck in traffic in a city.

But it sure feels like the reception gets wekaer or the antennas loose their reception over time.
Had both glass antennas and roof mounted but over time they kind of fade away so I dont bother more with it. Money better spent on data for streaming.

Most likely better in a more flat country.

The Japanese aerial is different (see this video -
 )

It is FM only and is on a different frequency range to those in Europe. It does not support DAB and does not have the wiring loom to support DAB

I hate the little stick on DAB aerials.

I can supply the parts to properly install the EU specification aerial. This contains the aerial, aerial base, cross roof feeder and LHD or RHD dashboard feeded (you have to ask for the correct one).  www.bigjimny.com/store/aerial-dab/fm-gen-4

The new aerial has a built in splitter/amplifier for DAB and FM so it needs phantom power to power the amplifier. This phantom power is fed up the FM FEEDER, therefore you will also need a cable to feed 12volts up the FM wire. This is the one I use -  amzn.to/4pAhUcK
system

You would have to lower the roof headlining to fit this

We are fortunate in my area that DAB coverage is excellent, so it works well.

Thank you for the advice. I'm not very handy at this sort of thing, but I assume an auto electrician should find it all straight forwards. We have to see what Father Christmas brings...

I fitted a Kenwood DAB to mine, and the DAB was crap. Same thing, aerial stuck to window.

thanks for posting the video Martin, after watching i checked my install (pioneer sph-da77dab) due to very bad dab drop out, and realised i hadn't connected the blue wire to the aerial ghost power lead, 5 mins and 2 crimp terminal later, perfect dab reception every where
