Over the weekend a mate docked in Corfu for the day. He sent me these pictures of rental Jimnys.

Not seen so many 02s in one place.

Fascinating!

I assume they are patched together just enough to be usable over short distances and at low speeds... but I do wonder how they keep inattentive vacationers from inadvertently destroying the transfer case. 4WD locked out perhaps?

I get snaps from friends on mediterrainean holiday of Jimnys and even Samurai rentals all the time.
It is very common.

They most likely get a good enough income to keep them well kept and with a dry climate and no salted roads down there in the winter time they last way longer I guess.

Whenever someone looks round my SJ their first comment is usually around how they hired one abroad somewhere and really liked it. I think those hire Jimnys are probably pretty battered up close but all they have to do is run and fortuantly they probably don't rust as bad being in a warmer climate. The downside I see to hire Jimnys is usually it gives people the wrong impression of a Jimny and then they want one in the UK as they see it as a good vibes island car which it works well for. Sadly the reality kicks in back in the UK with wet & windy roads full of potholes and for many the Jimny just isn't practical for day to day family life. I wouldn't mind a owning or having a go in a soft top Jimny one day.

I'd love to have a drive of a Mini Moke

They are an absolute blast, like an "overgrown" go kart, I learned to drive on one, in the "back dam" of a sugar estate in the Caribbean
