The main take away for me is that I genuinely think suzuki missed an opportunity with the 5 door. They gave it the improvement of the vented discs and the increase in pitch stability from the longer wheel base but then stopped short of some more torque from a turbo and didn't add say another 6 or 700 kg to the towing capacity. Had they done it don't think i would have been on my own tearing down their gates to get at one even at 35 to 40k. Shame really.

My vision for the ideal five door Jimny would have had a slightly larger (maybe a 2.0 liter) naturally aspirated motor, and if Suzuki had fitted either a turbocharger or some sort of hybrid power train, I would not have bought one.
Yes, a little more torque/horse power would have been nice, but I don't need and especially don't want, the additional complexity that comes with either of those.
Too many people underestimate the engineering compromises that go into automotive design - let's give it a little more power, that means they need to beef up the drive train to ensure reliability, that in turns adds to the weight, that increases the fuel consumption, it needs a bigger tank, more fuel equals more weight and so we need more power to move it so, we're right back where we started from.
Look at the Harrop supercharger installs in Australia, see what the transmission failure rates are like, more power is nice, but at the expense of reliability, ah, no.
Martin, I know you raised the issue of warranty and after sales in the video, I have a different question in this regard. If you get the opportunity to speak with the importer again, does he have access to at least a spares listing, what I need is the part number for the FSM on DVD.
Because you had the part number for the DVD for the three door on the site, I was able to track it down & purchase it, but I'm having no luck getting a number for the DVD for the five door.
Please & thank you.

I think that the main frustration I have is that the entire automotive sector no longer accepts that small vehicles have a place in a working environment. By that I mean that if you as part of your work need to tow anything bigger than a garden trailer you have to have a pickup or something equally big and heavy. Alternatively if you want to tow something a little lighter than 3500kg you must obviously need a mid size suv for your caravan. What there isn't is a smallish utilitarian vehicle with a cross country, not all weather, 4x4 system that can tow 2000kg that isn't leather lined and geared for motorways.
Just because I have land doesn't mean that I have room for a pickup and just because a new defender 90 can tow a house doesn't mean that I can justify it's asking prices as an agricultural business. I know it's not on topic but it winds me up because it shouldn't be so difficult.

Thanks Martin, when you find one (the part number), could you share it, or even drop me a line and quote a price to supply the DVD.
