Just wondering how robust is the antenna or indeed how flexible or resilient to passing under tree branches? I suspect it is only a matter of time before it is put to the test especially if one of the parents are rounding up sheep. I would raise the branches out of the way with the chainsaw but they provide valuable shade for the sheep. On temeraire the antenna is permanently stowed because of this but on the 4 it's fixed. Are there viable alternatives like the fins on German cars?

Hi, there is enough flex in it I would think. Mine is flexed back and tie wrapped to the roof rack. Has been that way a few years, but still went back in position when I was messing with something else. Cheers

as long as you drive only forward it should be OK.
Also if reception is good you will not have to pull it all the way out.
but if you still got your roof bars you could cable tie it to them and you may even reverse thru the bushes.

I have a too cheap whip roof antenna:

It was there with the original roof bars too and is flexible enough to survive the branches.
But DAB has stopped working in it so now it is there for FM.
(On wich there is allmost no transmissions in Norway anymore.)

Fins are no good for reception "they" say, whips are better.

As already mentioned going forwards I don’t think you will have a problem, unless it’s a heavy duty branch and it just clears the roof, the antenna slopes backwards and has a fair bit of flex in it.

However, you probably want to avoid reversing under low branches.

Next week sometime allegedly. It was supposed to be last Tuesday but somebody panicked because we are sheep shearing tomorrow and apparently I don't need the distraction or so I'm told. Apparently thinking about more than one thing at once is against the rules?!?

Would most likely be shiny when you recieve it so with your ADOS I have to agree with that :)

BTW: the original antenna mount is very usable for getting wires and power to the roof. I searched all over my garage for my old and broken antenna but had to cut my just fine antenna to use the mount to pull wires for my roof mounted LED-bar.
We only have DAB so FM is of no use here.
