My daughter recently bought an  06 manual Jimny. The electric 4WD didnt work and on investigation the 3 button control wasn’t plugged in. When I connected it and switched on ignition the 4wd icons flashed on dashboard and then a beep started every few seconds. It didn’t sop and the only way I could find to stop the beeping was to pull out the fuse (shared with lighter socket). Drives OK in 2 wheel but dont know what damage is being done and need to sort to get it through MOT.

any suggestions?

Not really heard of people unplugging the switch before. Kinda suggests it being electrical rather than mechanical, might be lucky and it be a wiring problem at the transfer box plug, worth a look for broken or loose wires?

Two of the three switches in my Gen 3 box developed a fault where they would constantly make and break. This caused the controller to go in to 4WD and try to gon to 4WD low, which it wouldn’t do whilst moving.

I had to disconnect the switch box to get me home. I took it apart, there isn’t much in it and confirmed two switches were gone, so looked for replacement switches, but found a complete switch box on eBay for not much money, just put a new one in.

I might still have the old one, it could be easily repaired if I could find a suitable switch to solder in.
