So this sumer I have decided to swap the engine on my 2003 m13A (non-VVT) JImny. I have done some research but have a few questions before I start. Any help or advice would be gratefully recieved.
1) Can I assume if using the current 2 02 sensors I'll have no problem with MOT emmisions? (I plan using M16A injectors, according to the web this is better)
2) The M16A engine went in a number of other models at slightly different powers, is there anyone specific that is best or one to avoid
- Liana 107PS
- Vitara (2015 onwards) 120ps
- Swift (M16A MPFI VVT) 136ps. I assume this is MP Fuel Inj VVT. If I sawp my current M13A head will it be just as good
Any other hints / tips I have missed
Thanks Carl

One of the last 200ish of the gen3s, probably.

I seem to think that there were revisions in the later swifts that makes it more difficult like camshaft position ring and thermostat housing. I think that 2010 rings a bell for when this was maybe. But I haven't done myself.

Emissions should be fine, I haven't had any issues in 10 Mots.
You're best off sticking to the low power versions. The compression ratio changes in the higher powered versions and the Jimny ECU struggles to adjust the timing accordingly. Non-vvt M16a engines are getting hard to find but you can put your cylinder head and timing cover on a VVT engine to make it non-VVT.
You should also consider the 1.5. They are plentiful in Swifts and Ignis and go just as well as the 1.6.

The little I have heard is that the 1.5 is an easier swap because it is "identical to a 1.3 except with a longer stroke".

Thanks for the info. Obviously I wanted more bang (HP) for my efforts.
Is the standard 1.6 (non VVT) a noticable upgrade when dirving on the road? I guess I'm asking is it worth a long weekend of work and a few hundred £?
