I have spring spacers on mine, had them on for about 6 years now. Didn't bother with the shock spacers, bought longer shocks. Ride on road is no different really, and I get plenty of flex on the lanes.

Longer shocks is the way to go really. As it gives more total travel, aka "flex". Although in many ways you are now over half way to a suspension kit anyway, as shocks usually cost more than springs.
Nothing really wrong with using spacers and stock springs. Of course it changes the pre-load on the springs and there is more potential chance of coil bind under compression, so you might not gain as much total travel as you'd think, although you'd need to check if this was an issue or not. Many aftermarket springs are a different spring rate though too, which can offer other benefits.
Although it has to be said Jimny's really don't flex great really, not compared to a Land Rover or Jeep at any rate.
So improving flex is certainly a good thing. If you have traction control to some extent flex is not as crucial. Although keeping more wheels on the ground more of time certainly makes for a smoother drive off road.

Rear wheel will happily go into the arch, enough movement for what I do! Will get longer springs when an original gives up.

I've decided for now I will go with a bodylift and look at the suspension if I need to.
