It's dangerous if you ever need to jack the car. There is a lot of energy stored in wound-up driveshafts.

I've instructed my wife on how to use the 4wd.

My friend with the 2019 Jimny SZ4, yes it sounds like she was lucky to get away with it. l think her Jimny has done around 30,000 miles since then and she has no plans to sell it, l've not driven hers recently but l believe it's never needed any repairs to the drive train.

l can't remember what her fuel consumption was when she drove it in 4wd all the time. As it was four years ago

It is not like your drivetrain explodes if you go around in 4x4 without a mid-diff on a dry surface.
Comparable to smoking I guess, not healthy, not smart, could get very expensive, it reduce your service life but, you seldom die after 3 sigarettes.

Norway 2005 Jimny M16A VVT, 235 BFG MT, 2" Trailmaster, ARB rear lck, 17%/87% high/low gears.
