Backstory first ...

I picked up a set of used Gen 3 Jimny springs, these were removed when a Black Raptor lift was fitted, not because they were defective.

When I took a closer look, I realized that one was shorter than the others - I was expecting two pairs of springs of similar free height, one pair for the front and the other for the rear, and my expectation was that each pair would have a similar free height.

The shorter spring has the same number of turns as it's partner, and does not appear to be broken, it's just shorter, possibly sagged, but, my experience with sagging coil springs has been that they sag under load and the free height is not affected.

Is what I'm seeing here normal, does the third gen Jimny have one spring noticeably shorter than it's partner?

It's normal for Gen 3 and Gen 4 RHD Jimnys use an odd pair of rear springs to counter the Jimny lean. I've never noticed that much height difference though. Normally on a Gen 3 the NSR spring is similar height but has fewer turns of thinner wire. That said there are a couple of different part numbers.

Coil springs have paint markings that are used to identify the spring - does anyone have a list of the Jimny spring "color codes".
