A carrier pigeon has finally reached my cave with the news that all new cars sold (not just new models type approved) in the EU have to have intelligent speed assistance fitted from today.
Probably another factor in Suzuki's decision to give up the EU. It wouldn't be too hard to implement, but why bother if sales volumes are low and EU regulations are continually getting more convoluted?

Apparently the UK government rejected the legislation, however, most major manufacturers are implementing it anyway, see this article

The Jimny wasn’t getting it, but then again Suzuki probably took the decision to pull the Jimny several months ago.
It can be turned off, using the menus and settings, but it looks convoluted to turn off on most models.

It was just a thought, the UK on its own is such a tiny market, and those regs apply to the whole EU. We were a great market in the 70s, since Japan drives on the correct side of the road exports to the UK were easy.
