Question keyfob was created by RottenMango
Hi guys. Less than a week ago I bought a 2005 Jimny. I got one key with buttons to operate the central locks and one old style key that I have to lock manually using the keyhole. How can I get a second fob the cheapest way? I really don’t need a new key I just want to be able to use a remote to lock and unlock the doors. When I changed the battery, the key was labeled ALPS 37182-A7.
I really appreciate your help

If you do a search for Jimny remote you will find loads on eBay, Amazon etc. for £10 upwards. I couldn’t say if any of these work, but they should do and if not, send it back.

The remote needs programming in to door lock mechanism, see here on how to do this

Finally in the key fob there is a small transmitter for the immobiliser, if you were careful you could swap the immobiliser transmitter and key in to the new key fob (with the remote) for a fully functioning spare, or just swap the immobiliser transmitter and get the new blank copied at Timpsons.

New immobiliser transmitters can only be paired with the Suzuki scan tool.

Told you can get them from Timpsons,  but not tried myself as I didn't have a keyfob so fitted an ebay aftermarket locking unit

Just checked the keys for my 2011, same as yours, one remote and one non-remote, so that must be standard.

Perhaps I will buy a cheap second remote just in case.

Man, I have gone through this new key rigmarole before and you wont like the answer. Basically it's just damn expensive for a new one, I think like £300 from my local Suzuki dealership. Timpsons said that they couldn't do a wireless remote, as did a bunch of local car locksmiths. They could all do bog standard manual keys for like £100-150 but nothing remote.

In theory if you can find a new ALPS 37182-A7 module then there is a "pairing dance" you can do to program it to work for your car. The problem is actually finding one of those modules, they're very expensive / awkward to find online. Edit: Oh and the cheap keys you find on Amazon? They just don't work, needs to be the exact ALPS module.

Then there's the immobiliser chip, which is thankfully dumb enough that it can just be cloned but you'd need to get someone to do that unless you buy your own tool to do so. Which I did! An XHorse VVDI tool for about £90 which let me clone my chips, worked perfectly. Took my existing key to a locksmith and he cut some blades I got online - hey presto, I had 3 additional manual keys. I then sold that tool on eBay for like £80, meaning all-in I probably spent about £25 (and countless sad hours) on that project.

But the wireless ones? Never managed to do it sadly. I think you basically just have to go to Suzuki. There is a listing on Alibaba (Chinese ecommerce site) for them ( www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Original-...7_1600566748892.html ) but the minimum order quantity is 10 so that's like £100 spent on what is ultimately a bit of a punt if it doesn't work. I just contented myself with my stack of manual keys and moved on with my life.

Then I crashed the car and put them all in the bin
